Azul Latin Kitchen had a great opportunity during COVID-19, to can their margaritas as a togo product. Togo alcohol was unheard of in California until April 2020. Since restaurants were only doing togos to keep people home and promote social distancing throughout quarantine. The governor made it okay for togo alcohol to be sold with the purchase of an entree at a restaurant. They ended up reaching out to me to create a label for their canned margaritas. This client wanted something that customers can take home and remember Azul by after visiting Lake Tahoe and their establishment.
I started out by sketching, trying out several ideas on how I wanted everything to be laid out on a 8 by 3.5 inch space. Once I found the layout I wanted with all the right jargon that needed to be included on a can that contained alcohol. I then went into creating the wave you see on the label. This was a significant piece to the label, symbolizing the water being wrung out of the lake and put into these craft cocktail margaritas, with all their fresh squeezed juices. I was very happy with the final product. I believe it embodied everything that Azul stood for.
